Welcome to TRIP
The Travel Retailer Identification Program (TRIP) is the travel industry's first and only jointly-managed travel agency accreditation and identification program. Setting itself apart from other accreditation and credentials programs, TRIP is a supplier-agent governed, non-profit corporation. The corporation will establish a more effective and thorough system of providing recognition to accredited travel retailers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, including the implementation of a new travel agent ID card. While North America will serve as the
"launch region", TRIP plans to expand to other countries. TRIP consists of two core elements:
Accredited Travel Retailer (ATR) - an industry designation to better reflect the growth and nature of agencies which do not participate in an airline settlement plan, nor directly issue airline tickets on standard industry ticket stock or e-tickets. The ATR program is designed to provide both travel agents and travel suppliers with a more enhanced, feature-rich, mutually beneficial platform for sales recognition and support.
TRIP Travel Agent ID Card - a travel agent identification card which provides both travel agents and travel suppliers with a more secure, stringent basis for qualifying and identifying legitimate, professional sellers of travel. The TRIP ID Card is offered to all eligible travel agents regardless of their ARC or BSP participation.
Both the ATR designation and the TRIP ID Card are based on the highest standards of travel industry experience, education, business organization, and finance. TRIP sets rigorous, but attainable benchmarks to assure that legitimate sellers of travel are recognized by all sectors of the travel industry and that travel suppliers will be better positioned to allocate marketing resources earmarked for the travel agency community.
